Kendal at Granville Welcomes New Managers

Nov. 1, 2019, Granville, Ohio— Kendal at Granville’s Executive Director Doug Helman has announced that new managers recently joined the staff of Kendal at Granville in key positions, including Executive Chef Eric Beier and Life Enrichment Director Gabriella Drago.

Before joining the Kendal at Granville team as Executive Chef, Eric Beier previously served as the Chef Manager for Eurest-Compass-USA in Columbus, Ohio, and before that as Sous Chef for Bon Appetit at Denison University and Sodexo at COSI. Beier’s current responsibilities include writing all menus for residents throughout the community, ordering food and supplies for the Kendal at Granville kitchen, scheduling the cook and food preparation staff, and working in collaboration with the catering manager and other dining services personnel.

“I am looking forward to creating new, refreshing menus featuring foods that will satisfy as both nutritious and delicious,” Beier said.  A member of the Army Reserves from 2001-2006, Bier reached the rank of Corporal. After attending Bowling Green State University for undergraduate studies and completing his Army service, Beier moved to Columbus and is a 2009 graduate of the Columbus Culinary Institute. Married with two children, he enjoys spending his free time with family and watching sports, especially the Cleveland Indians.

Gabriella Drago is a board-certified Music Therapist and recent graduate of Baldwin Wallace University. Drago has most recently been employed by Harmony Hospice in the Cleveland area as a music therapist for patients in hospice care, using music therapy techniques to increase relaxation, decrease anxiety and improve quality of life. Drago’s other areas of experience include working with both children and adults living with visual impairments and developmental disabilities.

Drago grew up in Mentor, Ohio, where she was a soprano soloist for multiple choirs and participated in All State choir in Columbus. She plays popular and modern music on the piano and guitar. Assisted in her position by her service dog, Freesia, Drago will oversee life enrichment programming in all of Kendal at Granville’s health services areas.

“I’m enjoying meeting our fantastic residents and charismatic staff,” Drago said. “I’m looking forward to learning about the unique interests of residents so that we can provide enriching experiences tailored to each individual.”

“Kendal is grateful to welcome all three of these talented leaders in service to our community and Licking County’s older adults,” said Beth Waite, Kendal at Granville’s Human Resources Director.
